London, September 9: James Anderson's seven-wicket burst helped England beat West Indies by nine wickets in the third and final Test at Lords on Saturday (September 9) and secure the series 2-1.
England won at Edgbaston, the day-night first Test, and at Lords, while the visitors emerged winners at Leeds.
In their second innings, West Indies were bowled out for 177 and Anderson was the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 7 for 42. England managed 194 in their first innings for a handy lead of 71 runs.
This was also Anderson's career best effort, beating the 7-43 against New Zealand in 2008.
West Indies managed to eke out a paltry lead of 107 but that was never even going to stretch England.
The home side scaled down the target in 28 overs with Mark Stoneman (40 n.o) and Tom Westley (44 n.o.) forging a fifty stand for the second wicket.
The only blemish was the dismissal of Alastair Cook who was trapped leg before by spinner Devendra Bishoo.
Earlier, West Indies could not resist Anderson who rocked them with a fantastic spell of swing bowling.
Shai Hope was the only batsman to offer even a semblance of resistance with a 62 off 144 balls.
But on this day, there was no support for him and such lone acts were not enough to stop Anderson, who completed 500 Test wickets in this match, and England.
