Andre Russell on Friday (March 29) became the first overseas player and second in the history of IPL to register the double of 100 wickets and 2000 runs. The West Indies star joined Ravindra Jadeja in the prestigious list.
During the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder picked the crucial wickets of Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar to restrict the hosts to 182/6 in 20 overs.

Russell now has 100 wickets to his name in 114 matches at an average of 24.05 and an economy rate of 9.27. The 35-year-old has also scored 2326 runs in 97 IPL innings at an average of 29.82 and a strike rate of 175.55. The hard-hitting batter did not get to bat against RCB as his team won by seven wickets.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was the only all-rounder to achieve the feat. The India star has scored 2724 runs in 228 IPL matches at an average of 26.45 and a strike rate of 128.92. The left-arm spinner has also picked 152 wickets at an economy of 7.59, and an average of 29.81.
Further, Sunil Narine also joined an elusive list. The KKR all-rounder became only the fourth player to feature in 500 T20 matches. He picked the wicket of Glenn Maxwell and scored 47 runs off just 22 balls while opening for KKR. The 35-year-old also grabbed the Man of the Match award in his landmark match.
KKR have won each of their first two matches in the IPL 2024, and are currently occupying the second spot in the ten-team table. They will next face Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 3.
