Pune, August 7th: Ankit Bawne, a talented cricketer from Maharashtra, has been striving to achieve greater heights in his career and has received new support to strengthen his aspirations of representing India at the international level.
Bawne, who recently signed with the Punit Balan Group (PBG), has been a key player in Maharashtra's middle order for over ten years in domestic cricket and continues to shine brightly.

Recognizing Bawne's potential and dedication to the sport, PBG has made the decision to extend their support and fuel his dream of playing for India. In the recent Maharashtra Premier League, Bawne became the first player to score a century in the league while playing for PBG's Kolhapur Tuskers. He also emerged as the top run-scorer of the season with 362 runs from seven games.
"Ankit Bawne is an exceptional player. He showcased his skills during the Maharashtra Premier League. We are delighted to have him join us through 'Punit Balan Group'. We are confident that he will shine on an international level with strong performances," commented Punit Balan, Chairman & Managing Director of Punit Balan Group.
The objective of Punit Balan Group is to nurture promising sports talents in India. They have provided support to athletes such as tennis stars Ankita Raina and Rutuja Bhosale, international cyclist Bilal Ahmad Dar, cricketer Umar Shah, and Afreen Hayder (Taekwondo), among others, helping them excel in their respective fields.
In 2016, Bawne made headlines when he achieved a massive partnership of 594 runs in Ranji Trophy along with Swapnil Gugale - breaking a record that had stood for 70 years. With an impressive average of 51.69 and 21 centuries under his belt, he has scored 7341 runs in his first-class career so far. He also represented West Zone in the recently concluded Deodhar Trophy.
"Punit Balan Group has consistently supported numerous athletes, enabling them to advance their careers. Many talented players have unfortunately seen their careers come to an end due to limited resources. Therefore, the contribution of the Punit Balan Group is truly unique. I am thrilled to be associated with such a group, as it will undoubtedly benefit my career," expressed Bawne.
At the age of 30, Bawne made his first-class debut when he was just 15 years old and has been a consistent performer on the domestic circuit ever since. He has also represented India A and India U-23 teams in his cricketing journey.
