Star India opener Prithvi Shaw's stint with Northamptonshire was tragically cut short due to a knee injury which he incurred while fielding during his match against Durham on Sunday.
The 23-year-old went for a scan and subsequent results received this morning have revealed the injury is worse than initially expected. Prithvi is now under the guidance of the BCCI and will see a specialist in London on Friday.

The out-of-favour India batter took the ongoing One-Day Cup in England by storm by smashing 244 runs off just 153 balls against Somerset. The score is the sixth best individual score in List A history.
The Mumbai batter followed it up with unbeaten 125 runs off 76 balls which helped Northamptonshire chase down a 199-run target in just 25.4 overs. Shaw is currently the leading run-scorer in the tournament. He has scored 429 runs in four innings at an average of 143.
"In his short stint Prithvi has made a huge impact on us as a club. It's a huge shame he won't be with us for the remainder of this comp." Head Coach John Sadler said.
"He's an extremely humble young man, he's very respectful and has been so grateful for the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire.
"As well as his performances on the field he had a huge impact in our dressing room. Nobody wanted to win games more than him and he contributed to us doing so. We wish him well and hope to see him scoring runs again soon,” Sadler added.
Prithvi Shaw is aiming to resurrect his India career currently. After making his debut back in 2018, he has played only 5 Tests, six ODIs and one T20I for India. He last represented India back in July, 2021.
The likes of Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal have gone ahead of Shaw in pecking order during the duration. He did not find his name in the second-string India squad named for the Ireland and Asian Games as well.
Not only has he been out of the team but has also found himself in off-field controversies including the infamous 'selfie row' which made headlines recently. He was also banned by the BCCI for eight months in 2019 for failing a dope team for the second time. Questions over his discipline and work ethics have also been raised. He failed miserably in the IPL 2023.
Recently, the Delhi Capitals (DC) star said that he has stopped stepping out of the house as troubles follow him. However, his run of misfortune continues with this knee injury which has come at a time when he was making positive headlines after a long while.
