Hyderabad, Mar 18: Low polling was recorded for the crucial by-elections to seven Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, Mar 18 due to the India Pakistan Asia Cup cricket match and a large number of marriages.
Andhra Pradesh chief electoral officer Bhanwar Lal has requested all voters to exercise their franchise despite the marriages and match.
Meanwhile, as the Ind-Pak match is being telecast live, all the political parties were worried about its impact on polling percentage.
Sources said that, only 20-30 percent votes were polled since noon across seven constituencies- Kollapur, Nagarkurnool, Mahbubnagar, Kamareddy, Adilabad and Station Ghanpur and Kovur.
The elections are critical for the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), to assert that the demand for separate state is still alive.
