Arshdeep Singh Ruled Out? CSK All-Rounder Added To India Squad Ahead Of IND vs ENG 4th Test: Report

IND vs ENG 4th Test: India's pace attack has taken a hit ahead of the crucial fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester, starting July 23, as injury concerns mount within the camp.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Haryana's rising pacer Anshul Kamboj has been drafted into the squad as a potential replacement following a freak injury to Arshdeep Singh during training.

Arshdeep, who made his Test debut in this series, suffered a deep cut on his bowling hand while attempting to stop a straight drive from Sai Sudharsan during Thursday's nets session.

"Arshdeep has a deep cut and has had stitches; he will take at least 10 days to get completely fit. The selectors have decided to add Kamboj in the squad," a BCCI official told The Indian Express. The left-arm seamer's injury now puts his participation in the Manchester Test in serious doubt.

India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate also provided an update, stating, "Arshdeep took a ball while he was bowling there, Sai hit a ball, and he tried to stop it, and it's just a cut. So we have to see how bad the cut is. The medical team have taken him off to see a doctor, and, if he needs stitches or doesn't need stitches, it's going to be important to our planning for the next few days."

To make matters worse for India, Akash Deep is also nursing a groin niggle and remains doubtful. The Bengal pacer had left the field holding his waist during England's second innings in the third Test at Lord's and has a troubling history with injuries that kept him out of action during the Australia tour and IPL 2025.

To bolster the squad, the selectors have turned to 24-year-old Anshul Kamboj, who impressed in India A's June series, picking up five wickets in two games. Known for his sharp pace and accuracy, Kamboj has 79 wickets in 24 first-class matches for Haryana and was also part of the Chennai Super Kings setup this season.
