Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi Pitch Report & Weather Forecast for ENG vs AFG ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Match 13

Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will stage it's third match of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 on Sunday (October 15) when defending champions England take on Afghanistan in match 13 of the tournament.

Jos Buttler-led England, who lost their opening match to New Zealand, head into Sunday's match on the back of a victory over Bangladesh, while Hashmatullah Shahidi's Afghanistan, who lost to Bangladesh, are fresh from another demoralising defeat to the tournament hosts India.

England rode on Dawid Malan hundred and a couple of fifties from Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow to set a daunting target of 365 before Reece Topley's 4 for 43 helped bowl out Bangladesh for 227 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, posted 272 on a flat surface after fifties from skipper Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai, but the bowling unit failed to defend the the total as India completed the run chase with 8 wickets and 15 overs to spare.

Afghanistan will be aware of the surface and conditions in Delhi, which has been surprisingly much friendly to bat on in the two matches so far. The games is Delhi also haven't witnessed any rain interruptions so far.

The average first innings score is 238. Plus, the overall record suggests that the teams chasing have had the edge of 14-13 in the 28 matches at the venue with one match ending in No Result. With dew likely to set in the later stages of the match, the captain may be tempted to chase here.
