Ashes 2023, 4th Test: Old Trafford Manchester Weather Today Ahead of Day 2

Chris Woakes' four-wicket haul put England on top against Australia on day 1 of the fourth Test of the Ashes 2023 at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on Wednesday (July 19).

Put into bat, Australia rode on fifties from Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh to end the opening day's play at 299 for 8. While Woakes claimed four wickets, Stuart Broad took two wickets to reach the landmark of 600 Test wickets.

Old Trafford in Manchester all set to host Ashes 4th Test

England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and put Pat Cummins' Australia into bat and the visitors lost opener Usman Khawaja and David Warner before lunch, but Steve Smith (41) and Labuschagne (51) shared a 59-run stand to take the total past 100.

Travis Head (48) and Mitchell Marsh (51) made useful contributions. All the Australian batters failed to convert their starts on day 1. Now, Mitchell Starc (23*) and Pat Cummins (1*) will look to add to the total when play resumes on day 2.

We had an uninterrupted day in terms of stoppages due to waether at Old Trafford on day 1. But will we see a full day's play in Manchester on day 2 (Thursday, July 20)? Will the weather interrupt proceedings on Day 2 of the 4th Test?

Ashes 2023 4th Test Day 2: Manchester Weather Report

The weather forecast for Manchester on Day 2 of the 4th Test is expected to see periods of cloud and sun with a passing shower. The max temperature during the day time is expected to fluctuate between 17° C and 19° C, going down to as low as 12° C in the night.

Rain Prediction: There is slight chance of shower with a spell around 10 AM Local Time and round 3 PM Local Time on day 2 - Thursday (July 20). The sky is set to remain partly sunny for most part of the day's play. So, weather is unlikely to play spoilsport on day 2.

Wind Speed: There will be wind speed of around 5 to 10 km/hour from the Northwest direction throughout the day. On the whole it is expected to be a good day to add runs on the board as the next few days are expected to see overcast conditions and rains.
