Ashes 2023: Australia won the toss and bundled out England for 282 runs in 54.4 overs on Day 1 of the Ashes 2023 fifth Test at The Oval in London. The England top-order collapsed after an opening partnership of 62 runs between Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett.

Moeen Ali batted at three and scored 34 off 47 balls but England slipped from 62/0 in 11.5 overs to 73/3 in 15.3 overs. A fourth wicket partnership of 111 runs flourished between Moeen and Harry Brook - England's highest run-scorer in the first innings with 85 off 91 balls.

However, once Moeen got out on the third ball of the 34th over, the second collapse saw England get reduced from 184/3 in 33.2 overs to 212/7 in 42.3 overs. Chris Woakes (36) and Mark Wood (28) took the team to 283. MIcthell Starc picked four wickets for Australia.

In reply, Australia were 61/1 at stumps on Day 2. David Warner was dismissed by Chris Woakes for 24. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne walked out unbeaten on 26 and 2 runs respectively.

A rain shower has been predicted at 10:00 AM, one hour before the start of the Day 2 play. But once that is over, rain is unlikely to play spoilsport. Second round of rain showers have been predicted around 7:00 PM according to AccuWeather.

We should see some sunshine from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM through occasional clouds over The Oval in London on Friday, July 28. A precipitation level of four percent has been predicted. The humidity level will be as high as 84 percent. The wind speed in London will hover around 10 km/h.
