The Ashes 2023 happened to be quite an eventful series and there were multiple occasions when the two teams came at loggerheads. It all started with fast bowler Josh Hazlewood hurling some expletives while giving a send-off to Usman Khawaja. The pacer was heavily criticised for his act.
Later, Jonny Bairstow's controversial stumping also made headlines. Alex Carey took off the bails with an underarm throw as Bairstow casually left a short delivery and moved out of the crease towards his batting partner. The 'Spirit of Cricket' debate gained major momentum during this episode.
England coach Brendon McCullum was left fuming, and had said, “I can’t imagine we’ll be having a beer with them any time soon.”
Former Australia captain was again booed, sledged and reminded oh his suspension following his Sandpapergate scandal.
