Ashes: England quick Overton ruled out of Boxing Day Test

London, December 24: England will be without Craig Overton for the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne after the fast bowler succumbed to a fractured rib.

Overton, 23, sustained the injury during England's heavy defeat as Australia reclaimed the Ashes after winning the Perth Test by an innings and 41 runs.

Uncapped quick Tom Curran is reportedly the frontrunner to replace Overton for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.

England have endured a forgettable tour, trailing 3-0 and battling to avoid a series whitewash, but Overton has been a rare shining light.

Overton made his debut in Adelaide earlier this month, finishing with four wickets in the historic day-night match.

He followed that up with 2-110 in the final Test match at the WACA against Australia, who will be without star paceman Mitchell Starc due to a heel problem.
