
Ahmedabad, March 10: Ravichandran Ashwin on Friday (March 10) claimed his 32nd five-wicket haul in Tests and went level with England pacer James Anderson in sixth for most fifers in the red ball game.
Ashwin achieved the feat during day 2 of the fourth and final Test between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium, where he claimed 6 for 91 to bowl out the visitors for 480.
The senior India off-spinner is sixth in the list led by legendary Muttiah Muralitharan, who has claimed 67 five-wicket hauls in his career.
Ashwin is also now only three behind Indian spin legend Anil Kumble, who has 35 five-wicket hauls, for most five-wicket hauls by Indian bowlers.
The top five also feature late Australia great Shane Warne, New Zealand's Sir Richard Hadlee and Sri Lanka's Rangana Herath, who all also took over 30 five-wicket hauls.

Ashwin also surpassed Kumble to become the highest wicket-taker for India in Tests against Australia. He is also one behind Nathan Lyon, who will bowl during the same match, for most wickets in Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
