India legend Ravichandran Ashwin has reacted to the retirement post of former India player Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, who announced his retirement from commentary.
The veteran commentator Laxman Sivaramakrishnan announced his retirement from the BCCI commentary panel on March 20, 2026, ending a 23-year stint in broadcasting. The former leg-spinner, who played for India in the 1980s and was known for his skillful spin bowling as a teenager, made the announcement via his X account.

In a series of posts, Sivaramakrishnan stated, "I am retiring from commentary for BCCI."
He cited long-standing frustration over limited opportunities, particularly not being assigned high-profile roles like conducting the toss or post-match presentations for 23 years, even when figures like Ravi Shastri were involved as coach. He questioned why newcomers were preferred for these duties, implying possible "colour discrimination" by the BCCI or related production entities, and hinted at broader issues in TV production and rights-holding companies.
The announcement has sparked divided reactions among fans and the cricket community, with some expressing support for his candidness and others debating the allegations. Legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took to social media and reacted to it.
"Oh no! Why not this IPL?" Ashwin wrote on X, replying to the Sivaramakrishnan post.
Ravichandran Ashwin has been a stalwart for India, but he was often criticized by Laxman Sivaramakrishnan. The commentator, who also hails from Tamil Nadu, has previously openly spoken against Ashwin and his class, terming him as 'Most Unfit Cricketer' once.
Sivaramakrishnan made sharp remarks about Ashwin, calling him a "selfish stats player," a "liability fielder," once, and claimed "any fool will get wickets on tampered pitches in India". He also mocked Ashwin's record in SENA countries.
