India won the Test by an innings and 239 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series and the third Test will be played at New Delhi.

Ashwin took 54 Tests to achieve the feat, breaking Dennis Lillee's 56-Test mark.

Australian pace legend Lillee incidentally set the record on the same day in 1981 against Pakistan at Brisbane.

Ashwin is also the fifth Indian bowler to take 300 Test wickets in Tests after Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434), Harbhajan Singh (417) and Zaheer Khan (311).
