After a gap of 17 years, two senior officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), President Roger Binny and Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, made a historic trip to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023.
They arrived in Lahore on Monday, crossing the Attari-Wagah border, in response to an invitation from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to attend the Asia Cup.

The last time an Indian cricket team visited Pakistan was in 2008 during the Asia Cup, and the last bilateral series between the two countries took place in 2006. Initially, the BCCI had declined to send its team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, resulting in a "Hybrid Model" arrangement.
However, as a positive gesture, the BCCI approved the participation of former Test player Roger Binny and politician Rajeev Shukla in a dinner hosted by the Governor of Punjab province in Pakistan.
Rajeev Shukla, who has been associated with the Indian cricket board for over two decades, had previously been part of a BCCI delegation during the historic 'Friendship Series' in 2004.
Regarding the possibility of resuming bilateral cricket matches between India and Pakistan, Shukla stated that such decisions are made by the Indian government, and they would abide by the government's directives.
Roger Binny recalled his last visit to Pakistan, which happened over 16 years ago when he was a part of the Asian Cricket Council. He praised Pakistan's hospitality, noting that they were treated very well during their previous visit.
