Asia Cup 2023: Bangladesh opener Liton Das missed the flight to Sri Lanka due to fever and would now be travelling at a later date if he recovers on time.
Bangladesh Cricket Board's Cricket Operations committee chairman Jalal Younus confirmed the development, adding that in case the 28-year-old fails to recover on time, a replacement might be named.

"Liton is suffering from fever. He tested negative for Dengue. So if he recovers early, he will take the next flight to Sri Lanka. But if he does not recover, then we may have to think about a replacement," Jalal told The Daily Star today.
The Shakib Al Hasan led Bangladesh contingent are set to depart Dhaka at 12.55 PM (local time). Young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who was recently named as a replacement for injured Ebadot Hossain, will also be travelling at a later date as his tickets are yet not confirmed.
Earlier, veteran opener Tamim Iqbal withdrew his name from the Asia Cup 2023 due to injury and also stepped down from the ODI captaincy. Shakib has been named the ODI captain of Bangladesh once again and the veteran all-rounder would be leading the side in the upcoming World Cup 2023 as well.
Bangladesh will play their first match of the Asia cup 2023 against Sri Lanka on Thursday, August 31 in Pallekele. They are placed in Group B alongside Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
