Asia Cup 2023: India won't come to Pakistan because they are afraid of losing - Imran Nazir

By MyKhel Staff

Amid all the news of whether India will travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, former opener Imran Nazir has made a bizarre comment saying that the Men in Blue are avoiding travelling to the neighbouring nation due to the fear of losing.

Nazir added that there were no security concerns in Pakistan and alleged that India were "playing politics".

"There is no security reason. Just look how many teams have been to Pakistan. Forget A teams, even Australia visited. These are all just cover ups.

"The truth is that India won't come to Pakistan [for the Asia Cup] because they are afraid of losing. Security is just an excuse. Come and play cricket. When you start playing politics, there is no way back," he said on the Nadir Ali Podcast.

"People want to watch India vs Pakistan games because there is a different level of excitement to it. The entire world knows it.

"Even we as cricketers feel that for cricket to reach every corner of the world, India-Pakistan matches need to happen. We used to play so much cricket. They are such a balanced team but India cannot tolerate losing. It's a game; you'll win some, you'll lose some," he added.

India last travelled to Pakistan way back in 2006, where they lost the Test series 0-1 but bounced back to win the ODI series 4-1. The two sides last played a bilateral series in 2012-13. The political; tensions between the two countries have seen them meet at ICC events only.

The upcoming Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to be held in Pakistan but India has shown a rigid stance of not travelling to the neighbouring nation.

According to the latest reports, a hybrid model will be used to host the event. While Pakistan will remain the hosts and stage all the matches in their country, India would most likely play their matches in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
