Ishan Kishan has penned a new record in India's opening Asia Cup 2023 match against Pakistan in Pallekele, Sri Lanka on Saturday (September 2).
In a demonstration of his resolute form, Kishan, the wicketkeeper-batsman, marked his 4th consecutive half-century in One Day Internationals and his 5th consecutive half-century in international matches overall.

Ishan Kishan has become the highest score by any Indian wicketkeeper in Asia Cup contests against Pakistan under his belt.
Racking up 9 boundaries and 2 sixes, Kishan accelerated his inning after crossing the half-century mark, a strategy that bore fruit as the fifth-wicket partnership flourished.
Nonetheless, in the 38th over, Kishan was dismissed as he sought to take Haris Rauf for a big hit, thus granting the Pakistani fast bowler his third wicket of the match. Kishan's impressive score of 82 runs from 81 balls further cemented his position as a serious contender for a place in India's World Cup squad.
Ishan Kishan's 82 has now bested MS Dhoni's record of 76 runs against Pakistan. The India keeper has now toppled Dhoni, whose 76-run knock came against the arch-rivals back in 2008. Prior to that, SC Khanna scored 56 against Pakistan back in 1984.
Kishan also became only the 3rd Indian wicketkeeper to score a half-century against Pakistan in the Asia Cup on Saturday.
