Asia Cup 2023: The reserve day was activated after the Super Fours match between India and Pakistan on Sunday (September 10) could witness only 24.1 overs of play due to a heavy spell of rain at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
India were nicely poised at 147/2 with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in the middle when rain stopped play around 5:00 PM. The covers were off in an hour but a couple of damp areas in the ground did not allow the resumption of the match. The match was finally called off when a second spell of rain made its presence felt around 8:30 PM.

The Asia Cricket Council (ACC) had arranged a reserve day for the marquee clash and the action will resume from the second ball of the 25th over on Monday, September 11. In case there is no rain, the action will resume from 3 PM as per the schedule.
Asia Cup 2023: RARE! Indian team in action on three consecutive days
The activation of reserve day also means that the Indian team will be in action on three consecutive days. The Men in Blue are scheduled to play against Sri Lanka at the same venue on Tuesday, September 12.
The rare instance is set to test the fitness of the Indian players. The team is already very cautious with the injuries of their key players. KL Rahul made a comeback in the match against Pakistan on Sunday after an injury break of over four months.
Shreyas Iyer, who also made a comeback from injury in the Asia Cup 2023, was ruled out of the playing eleven just before the start of the match due to back spasm. Jasprit Bumrah hasn't bowled in an ODI match for India in over one year.
The hot and extremely humid conditions in Sri Lanka are only going to make things even more difficult for the Team India players.
