Asia Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma's India to wear jersey with Pakistan written on it during continental event

Indian cricket team players will be sporting a jersey with 'Pakistan' written on it for the first time in history. A picture of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma wearing the new Adidas Team India jersey with Pakistan written on it already doing the rounds.

Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are the official hosts of the continental showpiece event which kick-starts from August 30. However, only four matches will be held in Pakistan. Sri Lanka would be hosting the remaining matches as a hybrid model had to be adapted after the BCCI denied sending the Indian team to Pakistan due to security reasons and strained political relations between the two countries.

India will kick off their campaign with their first match against Pakistan on September 2 in Pallekele. The two teams are very likely to clash for the second time against each in the Super Fours round on September 10 in Colombo. If the two sides qualify for the mega final, they will meet for the third time on September 17.

Likewise, in October, India would be written on the jersey of Pakistan and other teams participating in the World Cup 2023. The Pakistan team seen sporting a jersey with India written on it during the T20 World Cup 2021. The event was played in UAE and Oman due to Covid-19 pandemic but India were the official hosts. Meanwhile, Pakistan on Wednesday announced their 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2023. The likes of Shan Masood and Imad Wasim haven't been picked. Pace-bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has been recalled in the team for the first time after 2021.
