Asia Cup 2023: Virat Kohli bursts into laughter as Mohammed Siraj runs crazy to save boundary

By MyKhel Staff

India vs Sri Lanka, Asia Cup 2023 Final: Mohammed Siraj was pumped on Sunday (September 17) during the final, as the Indian pacer went on a rampage to claim five wickets in his first three overs. His effort saw Sri Lanka reduced to 12/6 inside six overs.

However, there was one standout moment during the game as Mohammad Siraj was seen running the width of the field off his own bowling. While the level of dedication was palpable by the speedster, Siraj's intent to do it all by himself left Virat Kohli in laughter as the former India captain saw the entire incident.

The incident happened in the fourth over of the match when Sri Lanka were struggling at 11/4 while Dhananjaya Da Silva came on the pitch to face his first delivery of the Asia Cup 2023 final. The batter pushed the ball towards the long-off region while all the fielders were in the catching position.

Already pumped up with three wickets to his name, Mohammad Siraj ran the entire length of the field to reach the ball himself but the effort was too far-fetched as it was evident that the ball was long out of his reach.

Da Silva's joy of hitting four off his first delivery was short-lived as Mohammad Siraj dismissed him in the very next delivery to claim his fourth wicket of the day. Earlier the 29-year-old right-handed pacer claimed the scalps of Pathum Nissanka (2), Sadeera Samarawickrama (0), and Charith Asalanka (0) in quick successions.

Coincidentally, the boundary by Da Silva was also the first run Mohammed Siraj conceded on the day. The bowler soon picked his fifer as he dismissed Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka to leave Sri Lanka in grave danger on 12/6.

The other wicket was taken by Jasprit Bumrah, who had opener Kusal Perera caught behind for a duck to give India the start they wanted before Mohammed Siraj built on the momentum.
