In a major development for Asian cricket, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi has officially confirmed that the Asia Cup 2025 will be held from September 9 to 28.
The tournament will be conducted in a hybrid model, with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) selected as the host country. The decision was finalised during the ACC meeting in Dhaka on July 24.

The 2025 edition will follow the T20 format, aligning with preparations for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Naqvi, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), expressed his excitement on social media, stating, "We are thrilled to announce the dates of the ACC Men's Asia Cup 2025, which will be staged in the UAE. Cricket fans can expect a thrilling tournament between September 9 and 28."
While India has been designated the official host, the actual matches will take place in the UAE due to logistical and political considerations. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently preparing the tournament schedule, with a few commercial elements still under discussion.
A major chunk of the tournament's revenue is expected to come from Indian broadcasters and sponsors. Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), which bagged the media rights for ACC tournaments in 2024 through a lucrative eight-year deal reportedly worth USD 170 million, is expected to benefit significantly, particularly if marquee matchups like India vs Pakistan are scheduled.
Interestingly, tensions between India and Bangladesh were evident during the ACC meeting, with BCCI officials choosing to participate virtually rather than attending in person. BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla joined the discussions via video conference. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated India-Bangladesh bilateral series, originally planned for August 2025, has been postponed indefinitely due to ongoing diplomatic tensions.
With the countdown now underway, fans across Asia will be eagerly awaiting the official schedule for what promises to be one of the most watched cricket events ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
