The much-anticipated clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 is reportedly set to take place on September 14, according to a report by News18.
This fixture, easily one of the biggest in world cricket, will mark the first encounter between the two sides since the Pahalgam attack in Kashmir, making the showdown all the more intense and emotionally charged.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had earlier confirmed that the Asia Cup 2025 will be held from September 9 to 28, and will follow a hybrid model with UAE hosting the matches, even though India has been named the official host of the tournament. The tournament will be played in the T20 format, aligning with preparations for the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
The India vs Pakistan contest remains the most high-profile fixture in the tournament's calendar, drawing massive television audiences and sponsorship interest. With Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) holding the broadcasting rights-secured in a multi-year deal worth a reported USD 170 million-the clash on September 14 is expected to be a blockbuster event, both on and off the field.
Despite political tensions and a recent diplomatic strain with Bangladesh that led to the postponement of the India-Bangladesh series originally scheduled for August 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is moving forward with finalising the Asia Cup match schedule. While the BCCI skipped the ACC meeting in Dhaka physically, Vice-President Rajeev Shukla joined proceedings virtually.
ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), had recently confirmed the tournament dates and venue, stating that the UAE was ready to host another exciting edition of the Asia Cup.
With geopolitical tensions and a fierce cricketing rivalry adding weight to the fixture, the September 14 clash between India and Pakistan promises to be the headline act of Asia Cup 2025.
