Asian Games 2023: Pakistan women's cricket team semi-final result, Sri Lanka deny another IND vs PAK final

Asian Games 2023: Pakistan Women lost their semi-final match of the Asian Games 2023 against Sri Lanka Women by six wickets at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field, Hangzhou in China on Sunday.

The defeat means India Women will now face Sri Lanka Women in the final (gold medal) match of the Asian Games 2023 women's cricket category at the same venue on Monday.

Fans were eager to see an India vs Pakistan final in the men's Asia Cup 2023 which concluded recently. However, Pakistan crashed out of the tournament after losing their must-win match against Sri Lanka. India and Pakistan men's cricket teams have never played an Asia Cup final against each other.

On Sunday, Sri Lanka Women defeated Pakistan Women to enter the final of Asia Cup 2023. Notably, cricket has earlier been played twice in Asian Games 2023 and Pakistan Women won the gold medal on both the occasions. They will now face Bangladesh Women in the bronze medal match on Monday.

Nida Dar-led Pakistan were restricted to 75/9 in 20 overs as 38-year-old left-arm pacer Udeshika Prabodhani picked three wickets in her four over spell for 21 runs. Kavisha Dilhari also picked two wickets.

Sri Lanka Women chased down the target in 16.3 overs to set up a gold medal match with India Women on Monday. Captain Chamari Athapaththu scored 14 off 19 runs. Harshitha Madavi top-scored for Sri Lanka 23 runs off 41 balls. Sadia Iqbal, Diana Baig and Umm-e-Hani picked a wicket each for Pakistan Women.
