Asian Games 2023 women's cricket competition will get under way on Tuesday (September 19) with preliminary round fixtures followed by the knockout round matches.

A total of nine teams will battle for three medals - gold, silver and bronze, across 11 matches with all the games set to be hosted at a single venue - Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field.

The four top seeded teams (based on ICC ranking) have earned direct entry into the quarter-finals. The remaining five teams will enter the draw for the quarterfinals via the preliminary round.

Initially four teams (Indonesia, Mongolia, Malaysia and Hong Kong - are divided into two groups. They will play in single round-robin matches against their respective group team with the losers playing a quarter-final qualifier, which will finalize four teams for the quarterfinal draw.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have directly qualified for the quarterfinal, while the next best ranked side Thailand also earns a direct entry via the draw, which will see three more teams join them from the preliminary round.

The teams competing in the women's cricket competition as per ICC ranking are: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Mongolia.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play from the quarter-final stage as superior ranked teams, while Thailand also enter the draw directly. Two winners from the preliminary round and the quarter-final qualifier winner will join Thailand in the draw on September 20.
