Asian Games 2026: When Will India Men's Cricket Team Play? Full Schedule, Possible Opponents

India's men's cricket team will begin its Asian Games 2026 campaign on September 28, with Shreyas Iyer's side entering the competition directly in the quarter-finals.

The men's T20 tournament is being played at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Aichi, from September 24 to October 3.

India, the reigning men's Asian Games champions, are one of four seeded teams alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The four seeded sides have received direct entry into the quarter-finals.

Who Can India Face?

India's quarter-final opponent will be the second-placed team from Group A. That group consists of Afghanistan, Japan and Nepal. Their preliminary-round matches will be played on September 24, 25 and 26, with the final standings determining India's opponent. The possibilities therefore include Afghanistan, Japan or Nepal.

Group B comprises Hong Kong, Malaysia and Oman, with the top two teams progressing to face Pakistan and Bangladesh in the other quarter-finals.

India's Road to Another Gold

If India win their quarter-final, they will play the winner of the Sri Lanka vs Group A winner quarter-final in the second semi-final on October 1. A victory there would take Iyer's side into the gold-medal match on October 3.

India won the men's T20 gold medal at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, and the 2026 squad will be led by Shreyas Iyer. BCCI also appointed VVS Laxman for head coach duties for this competition.
