Asian Games 2026: When Will India Play in Men's Cricket Semifinal? Schedule, Timing, Opponent Revealed

The Indian men's cricket team will return to action at the Asian Games 2026 on October 1, when Shreyas Iyer's side takes on Sri Lanka in the second semifinal of the men's T20 competition at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan.

India advanced to the last four without playing a ball after their quarter-final against Afghanistan was abandoned because of persistent rain and a wet outfield. As the higher-seeded side, India progressed to the semifinal under the tournament regulations.\

Sri Lanka subsequently secured their place in the semifinal after their quarter-final against Nepal was also affected by rain. That sets up an India-Sri Lanka clash for a place in the gold-medal match.

The men's cricket tournament will conclude on October 3, with the bronze-medal match scheduled for the morning and the gold-medal match later in the day.

India Squad for Asian Games 2026

India's updated squad features Shreyas Iyer (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Jasprit Bumrah, Yash Thakur, Arshdeep Singh, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Vipraj Nigam.

Vipraj Nigam was brought into the squad after Varun Chakaravarthy was ruled out with a side strain, while Yash Thakur replaced Harshit Rana. Nitish Kumar Reddy was subsequently withdrawn from the Asian Games squad for India's ODI assignment against the West Indies.

India are the defending men's Asian Games champions, having won gold at Hangzhou in 2023. Their first match of the 2026 campaign will therefore be the semifinal against Sri Lanka, with a medal already assured.
