Assam Cricket Association suspends Four Players for alleged Corruption, Names Revealed

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has suspended four players with immediate effect for their alleged involvement in corruption during the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament.

The players - Amit Sinha, Ishan Ahmed, Aman Tripathi, and Abhishek Thakuri - are accused of influencing and trying to corrupt current Assam team members who played in the tournament. Assam's matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 was held in Lucknow from November 26 to December 8.

A press release from the ACA stated: "accused of influencing and attempting to instigate some of the current Assam team players, who took part in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 held in Lucknow from November 26 to December 8."

An FIR has been filed at the Guwahati Crime Branch. The players are barred from all state-level tournaments run by the ACA, its district units, and affiliated clubs until the investigation ends.

"After the allegations came to light, the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ASCU) of the BCCI conducted an enquiry. The ACA has also initiated criminal proceedings. Prima facie, there appears to be their involvement in serious misconduct, affecting the integrity of the sport," Sanatan Das, the ACA secretary, was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

The ACA is cooperating with police and the BCCI's Anti-Corruption Unit. This case highlights ongoing efforts to tackle spot-fixing in domestic cricket.

Assam recently played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and was eliminated from the group stages of the tournament.
