David Warner and Travis Head have given Australia a terrific start in their ICC World Cup 2023 match against New Zealand on Saturday (October 28).
The two Oceanian powers are taking on each other at Dharamshala and New Zealand Captain Tom Latham won the toss and chose to bowl first. But David Warner and Travis have given the Aussies a fantastic start with some destructive batting in the first 10 overs.

They dismantled the Kiwi bowlers, and they put every one of them to the sword, scoring almost 12 runs per over in the first 10 overs. At the end of the 10 overs, Australia are 118 for no loss, which is the second-highest powerplay score in World Cup history.
Warner and Head are unbeaten and they have caused havoc in Dharamshala. Warner is batting on 65 off just 37 balls, while Head is also unbeaten on 50 off just 25 balls.
In the 10th over of the match, David Warner went berserk and hit Lockie Ferguson for a gigantic six. The ball was aimed at Warner's body but the southpaw dispatched it with a pull shot for a six. It travelled 94 metres into the stands and then the speed column showed the ball was bowled at 154 kph!
That is just absolute carnage and alarming for the Black Caps, who have found no clue so far. The Aussies have hit 12 fours and 10 sixes in the first ten overs, which itself is a record in this World Cup.
The Australian legend turned 37 yesterday and it clearly seems he has decided to give himself a post-birthday treat in this match at the expense of their neighbours.
Australia also came extremely close to making history in the match. After a superb start, they were on course to break the powerplay record and stamp their name up top as the highest scorers in the powerplay of a World Cup match.
But in the final ball of the 10th over, Warner failed to score a run and Australia remained stuck on 118 for no loss. That left them one-run short of West Indies' record vs Canada in the World Cup 2023, when the Caribbean scored 119 for 1 in 10 overs.
