The cricket fraternity could not fathom out the reason behind Australia's recent decline in One-Day Internationals. They have won just one of their last eight men's ODIs and their confidence levels took a big hit as well.
When the five-time ODI World Cup champions ventured into this campaign, they were far from impressive as they lost two games in a row, succumbing to the likes of India and South Africa respectively.

The Men in Yellow have lost their last four ODI World Cup matches, which is also their longest losing run in the tournament's history. After losing the first two games in this edition, they face a daunting task to sneak into the top four of the group stage.
Team India defeated Australia by six wickets in Chennai. South Africa gave the Aussies a run for their money in Lucknow recently. Proteas inflicted a painful defeat on the Aussies as the Men in Yellow ran through their worst-ever World Cup defeat.
Australia find themselves in turmoil as they are placed at the ninth position on the points table. Their Net Run Rate took a big blow as they are stuttering at -1.846, showing no signs of progress so far. They don't have plenty of time in this fast lane and will have to fix the leaks and loopholes before it's too late.
They will lock horns with Sri Lanka on October 16, Monday at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. It is indeed a must-win game for the Aussies in order to remain in contention. Sri Lanka also started their campaign with two straight defeats.
It is worth noting that Australia are on a six-match winning run against Sri Lanka in the Cricket World Cup. The last time Sri Lanka beat Australia was during the ICC ODI World Cup 1996 final in Lahore under the captaincy of Arjuna Ranatunga.
