AUS-W vs NZ-W Playing 11: Australia will take on their neighbours New Zealand in an exciting Match 10 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Tuesday, October 8 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE.
The two cricketing giants have begun their campaign in a perfect way, with both teams registering comfortable victories in their opening matches. Six-time winners and title favourites Australia were expected to trump Sri Lanka in their opening match, and the Baggy Greens delivered on that promise with a six-wicket victory.

However, it was New Zealand who showed their intent and cemented themselves as the dark horses of the tournament. The Kiwis caused an upset by defeating India, finalists in the last T20 World Cup, by a big margin of 58 runs. Their captain, Sophie Devine, led by example, with a player-of-the-match half-century knock propelling New Zealand to a massive total of 160/4.
Both teams would look to carry on their green patch of form at the early stages of the tournament. While Australia will certainly go into the match as favourites – as they do any time they play in the Women’s T20 World Cup – New Zealand will back themselves to pull off another upset on a slow Sharjah pitch on Tuesday.
