Aussies on verge of another golden era of Test supremacy, say ex-Oz greats

Melbourne, Jan 8 (ANI): The Australian cricket team has weathered the storm it faced after the retirement of Shane Warne and Glen McGrath, and are now on the verge of yet another golden period of Test supremacy.

Former legend Ian Healey claimed Australia were "better placed than any other country in the world" when it came to Test cricket stocks.

"I am very comfortable with the depth in this country and I think things are only going to get better," the Daily Telegraph quoted Healy, as saying.

In the wake of the Sydney Test triumph over Pakistan, Healy is buoyed by what he believes is a fabulous new era of cricket in this country.

"The great thing is we are finding ways to win at a time when probably only 40 per cent of the team would be happy with their own performances. We are in a great shape for the future and I think we are better placed than any other country," he said.

Former Test skipper Ian Chappell said Australia may have lost all-time greats like Shane Warne, Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist and Glenn McGrath, but they have not lost their fighting spirit.

"They know how to get across the line. Even though Australia have had some changes in personnel, they still know how to win when they get into a position," he said. (ANI)
