Australia announce 18-member squad for three-match series against India with the likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell and Steve Smith all returning to add boost ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
Australia were without the services of many of their usual players during the white-ball tour of South Africa as they recovered from injuries sustained during the trying Ashes series and thereafter.

Cummins and Smith were recuperating from wrist injuries while Starc experienced soreness in his groin and shoulder upon returning from the UK. Maxwell had aggravated his ankle while training ahead of the T20I series in South Africa and then flew back home for the birth of his child.
In a massive boost for Australia, Maxwell has been declared fit and will be part of the India tour. All-round Cameron Green, who missed three ODIs against South Africa after suffering a concussion in the first game, is set to feature against India as well.
The notable omissions from the squad are Travis Head and Ashton Agar. Agar has flown back home from South Africa for the birth of his first child, while Head faces a tight deadline to be fit for the World Cup after fracturing his hand during the ODI series in South Africa.
Matt Short and Spencer Johnson are two uncapped players in the squad, while Tanveer Sangha also retains his place in the squad after making his debut in South Africa.
Australia have until September 28 to make changes to their World Cup squad and any alteration after that date will need ICC's approval. Marnus Labuschagne will look to make his case stronger should Australia be forced into any changes to their World Cup squad.
Australia will play three ODIs in India before their two World Cup warm up matches. The series begins on September 22 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. The second and third ODI will be played on September 24 at Holkar Stadium in Indore and September 27 at SCA Stadium in Rajkot.
