Australia Stay on Top of ICC Rankings, India Climb to Third in Men’s Tests After Annual Update

Australia have reaffirmed their dominance in international cricket, retaining the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, while the Australian women’s side continue to lead the Women’s ODI standings following the latest annual update released on Friday (May 1).

The annual refresh, which gives full weightage to matches played since May 2025 and 50 per cent weightage to results from the previous two years, has resulted in some notable shifts - but the teams at the top remain unchanged.

Australia Extend Lead in Men’s Test Rankings

Australia have strengthened their hold at the summit, moving up to 131 rating points and maintaining a comfortable 12-point lead over South Africa (119), who remain second.

Both sides gained three points in the update, ensuring stability at the top, while the competition below saw some reshuffling.

India climbed to third place with 104 points, overtaking England, who dropped to fourth after losing seven rating points. England’s decline is largely due to older series wins — including their 3-0 victory in Pakistan — no longer being factored into the updated cycle.

New Zealand remain fifth with 101 points, just one behind England, underlining the tight race in the middle order.

Further down, Pakistan moved up to sixth, overtaking Sri Lanka, aided by the removal of previous heavy defeats from the rankings cycle.
