Australians all set to enter record book through cricket

Sydney, Mar 1 (UNI) With ICC World Cup round the corner,it seems that 'cricket fever' has turned on to the fans, with nearly 100,000 people already registering and thousands more expected to join the CricKids - Australia's Biggest Cricket (ABC) Game on Harmony Day slated for March 21 to set a record for the largest number of people playing cricket on a single day.

In a release issued by the Cricket Australia, Chief Executive Officer of CA James Sutherland said,''The CricKids-Australia's Biggest Cricket Game (ABC) is about providing the opportunity to all Australians to join in a sport that is part of Australia's history and culture.'' He said Cricket is a powerful way to spread the Australian values of unity, inclusion, diversity, team work and respect, adding, ''What we'd love to see is as many people as possible playing or getting involved in the game of cricket and living the community harmony message on Harmony Day.'' Interestingly, the CA is also eyeing to make a record for the maximum number of people playing cricket on a single day.

''We are estimating that 98,830 participants will take part in the CricKids-ABC Game to celebrate cultural diversity through Australia's favourite sport, which ultimately might land up in a record,'' Mr Sutherland added.
