Avesh Khan Injury Update: When Will Indian Pacer Join Lucknow Super Giants Camp For IPL 2025?

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be eager to get their injured pacers fit and back available as soon as possible after the lack of options in the fast bowling department cost them in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season opener on Monday (March 24).

Playing without the services of three of their frontline bowlers, LSG suffered a 1-wicket defeat despite being on top at most parts of the game against Delhi Capitals at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatna.

LSG opted for an Indian-heavy pace attack at the mega auction after retaining Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan. The Lucknow-based side which is mentored by former India quick Zaheer Khan, roped in the likes of Avesh Khan and Akash Deep to add to their pace batter at the auction.

However, all four of their pacers suffered injuries ahead of the IPL 2025 opener, forcing LSG to even sign one replacement in the form of Shardul Thakur for Mohsin, while they also have Shivam Mavi, who is without a team, in their camp for any emergency purpose.

LSG would ideally prefer to have the trio of Avesh, Akash Deep and Mayank back after putting their trust in them when building the squad for the new season. The three pacers missed the season opener, and there is no clarity on when Mayank or Akash Deep will return. But there was some positive update with regards to Avesh.

When will Avesh Khan join LSG camp?

Avesh Khan Injury Update: Although there is no confirmed date on his return, a report from ESPNcricinfo suggests Avesh Khan has been by the medical staff at BCCI Centre of Excellence to rejoin the LSG team for IPL 2025.

The Madhya Pradesh pacer was experiencing discomfort in his right knee, which was related to his workload during the domestic season. He was initially thought to be sidelined from the first few matches of the IPL 2025.

This recent update will provide a significant advantage for a team plagued by injuries in their bowling unit. Avesh has been unavailable since January of this year due to an injury to his right knee.

He had been undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where, it is believed, he completed one of his last fitness evaluations on Monday. It is officially not confirmed when Avesh will link up with the LSG squad.

When will Mayank Yadav and Akash Deep return to fitness?

The pace duo of Mayank Yadav and Akash Deep are unavailable due to injuries and are currently recovering at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. As of now, there is no official update on the pace duo return date.
