Ayush Badoni Creates History With Back-to-Back Double Centuries In Ranji Trophy; joins Kohli, Gambhir, Sarfaraz
Delhi captain Ayush Badoni scripted a remarkable piece of Ranji Trophy history on Tuesday, October 27, becoming the 21st Indian batter to score double centuries in consecutive first-class innings.
The 26-year-old continued his sensational run of form with an unbeaten 210 against Jharkhand in their Group C clash at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi.

Badoni's latest feat came days after he registered a career-best 217 against Gujarat at the Air Force Ground in Palam, Delhi. He carried that momentum into the encounter against Jharkhand, producing another commanding innings to put Delhi in a position of strength.
Batting on the second day, Badoni reached his double century off 216 balls, striking 28 fours and three sixes. He eventually remained unbeaten on 210 off 228 deliveries as Delhi declared their first innings at 515 for five after 130 overs.
The Delhi skipper found an ideal partner in Sumit Mathur, with the pair stitching together an unbeaten 334-run stand for the sixth wicket. Mathur contributed a crucial 150 not out off 253 balls, helping Delhi recover from a position of 181 for five and take complete control of the innings.
In reply, Jharkhand reached 131 for four at stumps on Day 2, with Utkarsh Singh unbeaten on 53. The hosts still trailed Delhi by 384 runs, leaving the visitors firmly in command of the contest.
Badoni joins Gambhir, Kohli
Badoni's achievement places him alongside former Delhi batters Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, who have also registered double centuries in consecutive first-class innings. Interestingly, legendary Indian cricketer KS Ranjitsinhji was the first Indian to achieve the milestone. He remains the only two batters to have accomplished it twice, recording successive double centuries in 1900 and 1901. The other one was Vijay Merchant in the 1940s.
