Azharuddin reveals why he raised his collar on ground

Bengaluru, May 13: Former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin was known for his style on the ground. But according to Azhar, who turned 53 this February, more than a fashion statement, he used to keep his collar up to guard his skin from the sun rays. [Why make a film on Azhar?]

"While fielding at point, I used to have problems in my neck skin because of the exposure to the sun. Hence, I decided to raise my collar as protection and it became a habit," Azhar told Fever 104 FM radio channel on Friday (May 13) morning.

The former player, who faced a ban on charges of match-fixing and fell a match short of 100 Tests, also spoke on the reason of him using a white helmet during batting. "I had a liking for white helmet since we used it a lot during playing Tests. And since there was no compulsion of using a blue helmet, I played with a white one," he said.
