Rawalpindi, March 8: Babar Azam on Wednesday (March 8) joined an elite list as he became the fifth batter and second joint highest for most hundreds in T20 cricket.
Babar, who plays for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League, scored his eighth hundred in the shortest format during the PSL 2023 league stage match against Quetta Gladiators at the Pindi Club Ground in Rawalpindi.
The Pakistan skipper smashed 115 off 65 balls in a knock that included 15 fours and 3 sixes to take Peshawar Zalmi's total to 240 in a crucial match in PSL season 8.
This was Babar's maiden hundred in the PSL. His other hundreds have come when representing Pakistan in internationals (Twice). Babar has scored over 8000 runs in T20 cricket so far.
With the hundred, Babar went level with Australian trio of Michael Klinger, David Warner and Aaron Finch, who all have eight hundreds across international and various T20 leagues in the world.
Babar and the Australian trio are now only behind the greatest player to ever play in the format, West Indies great Chris Gayle, who has 22 hundreds in T20 cricket.
