Pakistan suffered an agonizing defeat at the hands of South Africa in the ICC World Cup 2023 on Friday. It was a cliffhanger of a match in Chennai, but Babar Azam and his troops came on the wrong side of it as the Proteas won the match by 1 wicket.
Chasing 271 runs, South Africa were in deep trouble at one stage, but Keshav Maharaj scored the winning runs of Mohammad Nawaz's delivery to put the Proteas on top of the World Cup table. On the other hand, it was doomsday for Pakistan, who may now have effectively been eliminated from the tournament.

Pakistan put a stranglehold on the South African players, but it was the South African tail who stood strong and scored the all-important runs at the latter end of the match. Despite having numerous opportunities to bundle out their opponents. The Pakistani bowlers failed to do so.
With five runs required in three overs, Babar Azam called upon Mohammad Nawaz. All his pacers were done and dusted for the night, Babar resorted to Nawaz for the elusive final wicket. But Nawaz's bowling was a disappointment as the Proteas scored the remaining five runs in just two balls.
Nawaz couldn't prevent Tabraiz Shamsi from taking a single in the first ball, and then Keshav Maharaj pulled him for a boundary to win the match. And after that, the Pakistan captain's reaction caught the eye.
Babar was not happy at all and had a go at his bowler. The two seemingly were at odds and Babar Azam was aggressive towards Nawaz, who just shook his head and went away.
Babar could be lipread saying, "Aur kuch nahi aata, ek he ball aata hain (You don't know anything else apart from the same kind of delivery)."
Pakistan's defeat in Chennai means they now have lost four consecutive matches, which is a new low for them in the World Cups. With just two victories in six matches, they are on the verge of elimination from the World Cup.
