Babar Azam overtakes Virat Kohli in prestigious record, shares plaudits with South Africa legend

Babar Azam has surpassed Virat Kohli to become the fastest Asian batter to reach 6,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

The Pakistan captain reached this milestone in just 123 innings, breaking Kohli's record of 136 innings and equaling the overall record set by South African legend Hashim Amla during the final of the tri-nation series against New Zealand.

Babar Azam completes 6000 ODI Runs in 123 innings

Babar has completed 6000 ODI runs in his 123rd innings, the same as former South Africa batter Hashim Amla. The Pakistan star scored 29 runs in just 34 deliveries on Saturday (February 14), thus sharing the record with Amla. The 30-year-old now has 6019 ODI runs with an average of 55.73. He has been a prolific scorer in the format with 34 fifties and 19 centuries to his name.
