There's no end to controversy for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 as the Babar Azam Whatsapp chat leak controversy on national television left fans and former cricketers angered. They took to X, formerly Twitter, to criticise PCB for leaking a private conversation on a TV channel.
PCB chief Zaka Ashraf shared a private Whatsapp conversation between Pakistan captain Babar Azam and PCB's Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer on TV channel ARY in defense of claims that Ashraf has been ignoring calls by Babar and months of salary of Pakistan players is due.

The revelation of the private conversation came after former wicketkeeper Rashid Latif claimed that Zaka Ashraf has done little for Pakistan cricket since taking charge. Ashraf refuted the claims saying: "He (Latif) says that I don't pick up his (Babar's) call (but) he's never given me a call. The chief operating officer or the director of international cricket are expected to speak with the captain of the team."
The conversation between Babar Azam and PCB COO was short as Salman asked: "Babar, there's also been this news circulating on TV and social media that you have been calling Chairman and he's not answering. Have you called him recently?"
To which Babar Azam responded: Salam Salman bhai, ma ny to sir ko koi call nai ke (Hello Salman brother, I did not make any calls to sir)."
Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis was not too pleased with the revelation and said whatever is going on is not good for Babar Azam and Pakistan cricket and the captain should be left alone.
Pakistan are currently going through their worst run ever at an ICC World Cup as they have lost four games on the go after winning their first two games are staring at an early exit from the ICC World Cup 2023. They next face Bangladesh on tomorrow (October 31) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
