BAN vs ENG: Joe Root shined for the second consecutive time in the World Cup 2023 and scored 82 runs off just 68 balls in England's second match of the World Cup 2023 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday, October 10.
In the tournament against New Zealand, Root had top-scored for his team with 77 off 86. With 159 runs in two matches at an average of 79.50 , Root is currently the third-highest run-scorer in the ongoing 13th edition of the World Cup.

Joe Root, who hit eight fours and one six, missed out on his 17th ODI fifty but broke former England captain Graham Gooch's 31-year-old World Cup record.
The 32-year-old batter overtook Gooch to become the leading run-scorer for England in the ODI World Cup. Gooch played 21 innings to score 897 runs at an average of 44.85. He hit a hundred once and managed to bring up eight fifties.
Joe Root after his impressive knock against Bangladesh, has 917 runs to his name in 19 matches at an average of 57.31. Root has three hundreds and five World Cup fifties to his name.
The Nottinghamshire batter was struggling for runs in the ODI format ahead of the World Cup 2023. In the 4-match series against New Zealand, he scored 6, 0, 4 and 29 runs respectively.
However, like most of the great batters, Root has also bounced back to form just on time. Overall, he has scored 6405 ODI runs in 164 matches at an average of 49.26.
England finished their innings against Bangladesh at 364/9 in 50 overs. Opener Dawid Malan scored 140 runs off 107 balls. Jonny Bairstow also scored 52 off 59 balls. England are eyeing for their first win after losing the World Cup 2023 opener by nine wickets against New Zealand.
