BAN vs SA 2024 Test Series: Full Schedule With Dates & Venues For South Africa Tour of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday (September 30) announced the schedule for South Africa's tour of Bangladesh as the hosts get set to host two Test matches in October and November 2024.

The BAN vs SA two-match series, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle, will begin on October 21 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

The Temba Bavuma-led Proteas side are next scheduled to head to Chattogram, where they will play the second Test match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, starting on October 29. Here is a look at the BAN vs SA 2024 Test series schedule:

Bangladesh vs South Africa Test Head to Head record

In BAN vs SA head to head meetings, the two teams have met 14 times in Test cricket, with South Africa winning 12 matches, while the remaining two have ended in draws.

The last time the two teams crossed paths in the longest format was in early 2022 when Bangladesh toured South Africa. The Proteas registered a 2-0 series victory, extending their unbeaten run against Bangladesh in Test cricket.

This will be South Africa's first tour to Bangladesh for red ball games since 2015, when they drew both the matches at the same venues, which stage the 2024 series. Overall, South Africa has played 6 Tests on Bangladesh soil, winning 4 and drawing 2.

ICC Test Championship Standings, Form & Next Matches

Bangladesh (point percentage of 39.29) and South Africa (38.89) currently sit 5th and 6th in the ICC WTC standings, aiming to secure a place in next year's final. The two-game series in Bangladesh could play a major role in determining the final standings for both teams.

As for form, South Africa's last outing in the WTC was a 1-0 series win against West Indies. Meanwhile, Bangladesh are playing an ongoing WTC series in India, in which they are trailing 1-0.

After the home series against South Africa, Bangladesh are due to face West Indies in this championship cycle. On the other hand, South Africa will face off against Pakistan and Sri Lanka at home as part of their WTC itinerary.
