Bangladesh will host Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Monday (March 4). The series provide both teams a chance to test their squads before the T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
Najmul Hossian Shanto-led Bangladesh head into the match on the back of a 42-day Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), while Sri Lanka are fresh from a 2-1 home series win over Afghanistan.

Charith Asalanka will lead the visitors in the absence of Wanindu Hasaranga, who has to serve a two-match suspension after being found guilty of breaching the article 2.13 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel in last month's final T20I vs Afghanistan.
This will be the first three-match bilateral T20I series between the two Asian rivals. However, the two sides have crossed paths several times in the shortest format, and have also met earlier at the venue in Sylhet.

Bangladesh's two wins came only last year against Afghanistan. Sri Lanka also has played one match at the venue, where they beat Bangladesh by 75 runs in 2018. Here is a look at the venue stats & records:
The pitches used at the venue in Sylhet recently during the Bangladesh Premeir League have produced some low-scoring matches with spinners dominating the proceedings. The last T20I hosted at the venue also saw teams struggle to score past 150. So, similar wickets will be on offer during the series.
There is forecast for showers in the morning on Monday (March 4), but the weather is expected to turn sunny and clear with temperatures dropping from 29 to 25°C heading into the start time of the match. So, weather is unlikely to play spoilsport in the BAN vs SL 1st T20I.
Rain Prediction for Sylhet on March 4: As per AccuWeather, there is 70 percent chance of rain with showers expected around 9 AM on Monday (March 4). The wind speed will fluctuate between 7-11kmph West Southwest direction.
