USA, on the other hand, were hammered by Ireland in their first game. They were bundled out for 105 as Ireland chased down the target in 22.5 overs, and with seven wickets in hand. They are likely to endure a tough outing against Bangladesh as well.
Bangladesh have 2 wins, and 1 loss in 3 games and have four points to finish second in the points table in Group A. They have a net run rate of 0.374.
India - who are likely to finish as the group toppers - have four points in two games and a net run rate of 2.850.
OnlyAustralia - who are at the top of the table in Group C - have a better net run rate than India. The Aussies have NRR of 3.879 in two matches so far and have one more game to go.
After that 84-run defeat against India - whom they defeated in the U19 Asia Cup - the Bangladesh team has come a long way. They've defeated Ireland by 6 wickets and now prevailed over minnows USA by a big margin and qualified for the Super Six stage. They will take a lot of confidence from these wins at Bloemfontein going into the next round. The fact that they'll play their next game here at the same venue will further give them a big boost as the familiarity with the surface will bode them well.
For the USA, opener Pranav Chettipalayam scored 90-ball 57 before getting run out was the top-scorer. But his slow batting and inability to rotate the strike with Siddarth Kappa (18) pushed their team to the backfoot pretty early.
Utkarsh Srivastava (37) played a good hand in the middle overs but didn't find much support at the other end. They will face a dominant Indian side on Sunday (January 28) and look to put up a better show in their last group encounter.
Skipper Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby - the left-arm orthodox spinner - was the pick of the bowler for Bangladesh as he returned with 4/31 from his quota of 10 overs. It was he who rattled the USA batting line-up with his spin.
Arya Garg - the right-arm medium pacer - was the pick of the bowlers for the USA as he returned with impressive figures of 3/68 from his full quota of 10 overs.
Aarin Nadkarni - the other right-arm quick - was the second-best bowler for his team with 2/61 from 10 overs.
Ahrar Amin - the left-handed middle-order batter - scored 44 off 49 balls and shared a stand of 122 runs for the fourth wicket with Ariful Islam.
Mohammad Shihab James also played a cameo of 31 runs off 17 deliveries in the death overs to help his team go past the 270-run mark.
Ariful Islam was the best batsman in the match as the right-handed middle-order batter scored a vital run-a-ball 103. It was his gritty batting effort which helped Bangladesh post a challenging total against an inexperienced US batting line-up.
Pranav Chettipalayam (57) was the top-scorer for the USA in the big run chase against Bangladesh but he was dismissed in an unlucky fashion as he was run out. Barring that 75-run partnership between Chettipalayam and Siddharth Kappa, there were hardly any partnerships for the Americans. Once Bangladesh skipper Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby brought himself into the attack, the USA middle-order started falling like nine pins. They tried to last full 50 overs but a flurry of wickets in the last powerplay ensured the USA batters were bundled out for 170 in 47.1 overs. Bangladesh will finish the group stage as second while Ireland will be the third team. Ariful Islam (103 off 103 balls) gets the player of the match award for his run-a-ball hundred.

Nepal lost nine wickets in the run chase but Subhash Bandhari (9*) and Tilak Bhandari (0*) ensured their team crossed the winning line.

But from the ignominy of getting bowled inside 110 in the previous game (against Ireland), the USA batters have done well in this match.

Run Out! Mix-up between the USA batters and Pranav Chettipalayam has fallen short of the crease as wicketkeeperAdil Bin Siddik collects the throw from Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby and dislodges the bails. Fifty Up! Pranav Chettipalayam brings up his maiden U19 World Cup half-century with a single. He faced 76 balls to get to his fifty and paced his innings very well so far. He's played some quality shots in this innings but played way too many dot balls as well. USA reach 81 for the loss of a wicket in 22 overs. The onus is now on Chettipalayam and his partner Siddarth Kappa to accelerate the run chase as the asking rate is over 7.5 per over.
50-run partnership! Pranav Chettipalayam and Siddharth Kappa have shared a stand of fifty between them for the first wicket and they've faced 83 balls. USA reach 68 for the loss of one wicket at the end of the 19th over.
Four! Chettipalayam hits Sheikh Paevez Jibon over fielder placed at mid-on and the ball races towards the fence for a boundary. Chettipalayam reaches 37* off 59 balls.
USA reach 45 for the loss of 1 wicket in 13 overs. Sheikh Paevez Jibon - one of the best spin bowlers in the ongoing tournament - continues to bowl at one end for Bangladesh as they eye another wicket. Siddarth Kappa has been very slow in this innings as he's scored just two runs.
