BAN vs ZIM: Bangladesh thrashed Zimbabwe by eight wickets in the first T20I at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Friday, May 3. Bangladesh chased down the 125-run target in 15.2 overs.
After being asked to bat first, Zimbabwe managed to score 124 runs, and lost their tenth wicket on the last ball of the 20th over. They lost four wickets in the powerplay, and fifth on the first ball after it. They were soon reduced to 41/7 in 7.4 overs.

It was then that Clive Madande (43) and Wellington Masakadza (34) partnered for 75 runs off 65 balls, and took the team past the 100-run mark. Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan picked two wickets for 16 runs in four overs. Pacers Taskin Ahmed and Mohammad Saifuddin picked three wickets apiece.
In reply, Bangladesh lost Litton Das early. The opener was dismissed by pacer Blessing Muzarabani. However, an unbeaten fifty from Tanzid Hasan (67* off 47), and 33 not out off 18 balls from Towhid Hridoy saw them chase down the paltry total with eight wickets and 28 balls remaining. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 21 off 24 balls.
The second T20I will be played at the same venue on Sunday, May 5. The five-match series will conclude on May 12. Bangladesh will play a 3-T20I series against USA in the USA from May 21 to May 25.
