BAN vs ZIM Test Series 2025: All You Need to Know – Schedule, Fixtures, Dates, Venues, Squads & Key Players

BAN vs ZIM Test Series 2025: In a much-anticipated announcement, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed the schedule for Zimbabwe’s upcoming red-ball tour of Bangladesh.

The two-Test series, starting April 20, marks the first time the two sides will lock horns in the format since July 2021, and Zimbabwe’s first Test visit to Bangladesh since February 2020. That tour saw the visitors humbled by an innings and 106 runs — a result they’ll be keen to overturn this time around.

Fixtures and Venues

The opening Test will be held at the picturesque Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from April 20 to 24, before action shifts to Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram for the second Test, scheduled from April 28 to May 2. These venues promise a blend of spin-friendly conditions and vocal home support, creating the perfect backdrop for an engaging series.

Big Names Return as Squads Take Shape

Bangladesh head into the series with a solid mix of youth and experience. The major talking point is the return of veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim, whose calm presence in the middle order will be invaluable. However, the absence of Litton Das, who is currently involved in the Pakistan Super League, leaves a noticeable gap at the top.

Leading the side will be Nazmul Hossain Shanto, a promising top-order batter who’s been entrusted with captaincy duties. He will rely heavily on the spin duo of Mehidy Hasan Miraz (also vice-captain) and Taijul Islam, especially on surfaces that traditionally favour turn.

Zimbabwe, meanwhile, have received a significant boost with the return of seasoned all-rounder Sean Williams, who’s overcome a back injury. Their batting will be further bolstered by the return of Craig Ervine, who missed their last Test against Ireland for personal reasons. With a squad featuring the likes of Blessing Muzarabani and Wellington Masakadza, the visitors will look to challenge Bangladesh’s home dominance.

While neither team is currently in the top echelons of the World Test Championship standings, the series holds immense value for both. For Bangladesh, it’s a chance to assert their home dominance and build rhythm in red-ball cricket. For Zimbabwe, it's an opportunity to script a turnaround in subcontinental conditions that have often tested their resolve.

As excitement builds ahead of the first ball in Sylhet, fans can expect a series packed with gripping moments, as two familiar foes renew their battle in the longer format.
