The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken a significant step in addressing corruption allegations surrounding the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) by forming an Independent Inquiry Body.
This move comes as part of an effort to assist the BCB's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) in investigating several claims of corruption that have surfaced over the past few weeks.

It is the official corruption probe in the BPL since 2013, with the league facing a range of issues including delayed player payments and ticketing controversies. "As part of its ongoing efforts, the BCB is in the process of establishing an Independent Inquiry Body to further support the ACU in its investigations," stated a BCB press release.
The BCB has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent and fair environment for cricket in Bangladesh. "The BCB remains dedicated to ensuring a fair and transparent cricketing environment, and will continue to take all necessary actions to safeguard the integrity of the sport in Bangladesh," the release added.
While media reports have linked several players and matches to corruption, these claims have yet to be substantiated by the ACU. In response, the BCB reiterated its stance on maintaining the integrity of the game. "The BCB has also come across media coverage regarding potential anti-corruption concerns about the BPL. The Board reiterates its firm commitment to upholding the integrity and spirit of the game," said the press release.
The BCB has also emphasized its strict adherence to the ICC Anti-Corruption Code for Participants, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. "The BCB strictly adheres to the ICC Anti-Corruption Code for Participants and maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in any form. The BCB anti-corruption unit is continuously monitoring all matters relating to integrity within Bangladesh cricket, addressing them with due confidentiality and discretion."
As the investigation unfolds, the BCB is determined to take all necessary actions to ensure the protection of cricket's integrity in Bangladesh, sending a strong message to those involved in the game.
