Khulna Tigers' pacer Oshane Thomas had an uneventful and bizarre start to his over in a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 match on Tuesday against the Chittagong Kings, where he conceded an unusual 15 runs off just one legitimate ball.
Batting first, the Tigers set a challenging target of 203/4, driven by William Bosisto's impressive 75 off 50 balls. However, in the chase, the Kings got a head start due to Thomas' costly over.

The drama began with Thomas' first delivery-a fuller-length ball that was caught inside the 30-yard circle. Unfortunately for the bowler, it was declared a no-ball, nullifying the wicket and granting the batter a free-hit. Thomas delivered a dot ball on the free-hit, but his next delivery was hit for a six, which was again a no-ball, handing another free-hit to batter Naeem Islam.
Thomas then struggled further, bowling consecutive wides. Adding to the chaos, the next delivery, also a no-ball, was dispatched for a boundary. Before Thomas could complete a legitimate second ball of the over, the scorecard showed 15 runs already added, highlighting a costly lapse in discipline and control.
The video of the incident has now gone viral on the social space.
The West Indian then came back strongly as he conceded only 3 runs in the next 5 balls. After that horrendous over, he wasn't given a chance again to bowl.
Till now, the most runs scored off a single ball in the history of cricket is a whopping 286 runs. It happened during a match between Victoria and Scratch-XI in Western Australia on January 15, 1894. The incident occurred when a batter from Victoria hit a powerful shot that landed on a tree, allowing him to run as many as 286 runs while the ball was stuck in the tree.
In the run-chase, the Kings were bundled out for 166 runs.
